Note:  This is a 243MB file intended to be downloaded using a DSL or Cable connection. Do not attempt to download this update using a dial-up modem connection.

If you have not downloaded a SwineBooks program update before, you may find it helpful to print a copy of this instruction sheet by clicking on the Printer Friendly icon above.

Step ONE, if you are using SwineBooks Mobile:

• Synchronize your hand-held device(s) with SwineBooks. Warning: If you fail to do this, you will lose any new data that you have entered in SwineBooks Mobile!

Step TWO, backup your data files!

• Before you start, make a backup of each of your data files.
• Close out of SwineBooks Pro as well as any other applications that may be running.

Step THREE, download the update file:

• Click here to download SwineBooks Pro.
• After you click on the link, the “File Download” window will open. Click [Save].
• In the “Save in:” box at the top of the “Save As” window that appears next, navigate to the directory in which you wish to save the SwineBooks_6.11.1008_Full_CD_Image file. (You may save it on your computer’s desktop if you wish.)
• Click on the [Save] button.
• If you see a message saying that the file already exists, click the [Yes] button to proceed. Wait why a copy of the SwineBooks_6.11.1008_Full_CD_Image file is downloaded to your computer. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, this may take ten minutes or longer.
• When the download is complete, click on the [Run] button.
• When a Security Warning pops up click [Run]

Step FOUR, extract and install SwineBooks:

• When “SwineBooks Compressed CD Image” opens up click [Yes].
• Wait for SwineBooks to decompress. (This will usually take 2 to 4 minuets).
• When “SwineBooks was successfully extracted.” click [Ok].
• On your desktop double click on the shortcut called “Install SwineBooks 6.11.1008″ .
• Fallow the prompts to install SwineBooks Pro.

Step FIVE, start using the new version of SwineBooks:

• Double-click on the SwineBooks icon on your computer’s desktop to start the program. Go to “Help | About” to verify that you have sucessfully installed version 6.11.1008.

Step SIX: SwineBooks Mobile Users must run SwineBooks Mobile Wizard

• Click on the [SwineBooks Mobile] button in the “Frequent Activities” panel of the main menu screen.
• In the SwineBooks Mobile window that appears, click on the [Destroy Synchronization Setup] button, and then confirm you want to do that by clicking on [Yes]. Click on [OK] when you see the process is complete.
• Click on the button marked [Step One], and then click on [Yes] to confirm that you wish to create a snapshot of your data.
• Wait five to ten minutes while the snapshot creation process is working.
• When the process is complete, a window will pop-up, displaying the Computer Name and Database Name. Important: DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW YET!

Step SEVEN: On your handheld device …

• Start the SwineBooks Mobile application.
• Tap on the “Computer Info” tab at the bottom of the screen.
• Type the Computer Name shown in the SwineBooks Mobile Setup Screen into the Host Computer Name window on the handheld device. Important: “Computer Name” and “Host Computer Name” must be exactly the same, or SwineBooks Mobile will not work!
• Type the Database Name shown in the SwineBooks Mobile Setup Screen into the Host Computer Name window on the handheld device. Important: if the database names are not identical, SwineBooks Mobile will not work!
• Tap on the [Create Farm / Synchronize] button.
• Tap [OK] to start the synchronization process.

A note on compatibility: If you are running SwineBooks Pro on two or more computers, repeat the update process on all your computers right away to avoid compatibility problems. If you share your SwineBooks data files with consultants or advisors, be sure to tell them that you have upgraded SwineBooks, and they should upgrade their SwineBooks installations on their computers before they restore your data.
