If you are considering purchasing a new computer to run SwineBooks, we strongly recommend that you specify Windows XP Professional Edition. Windows XP Pro continues to be the operating system of choice for business applications and is readily available from reputable computer manufacturers.IMPORTANT: The SwineBooks Mobile software WILL NOT synchronise with Vista computers. If you wish to use the SwineBooks Mobile, you MUST use a computer with Windows XP Professional Edition.

SwineBooks Pro will operate on Windows Vista computers. However, you must disable both Windows Defender and User Account Control while installing, licensing and running SwineBooks.

Step Step A.  Disable Windows Defender

  1. Click on the Windows button in the bottom left corner of the computer screen,
  2. Click on the [Control Panel] button.
  3. Click on Security
  4. Click on Windows Defender
  5. In the Windows Defender window, select Tools.
  6. Under Tools and Settings, select Options
  7. When the Options window opens, scroll down to “Administrator options.”
  8. Click in the box to the left of “Use Windows Defender” to disable it.
  9. Click [Save]. A window requesting your permission to continue will appear.
  10. Click [Continue]. A window will open with a message confirming that Windows Defender is turned off.
  11. Click [Close].
  12. Click on Control Panel Home (top left of window) to return to the Control Panel home page.

Ste Step B.  Disable User Account Control

  1. At the Control Panel home page, click on User Accounts & Family Safety
  2. Click on User Accounts
  3. Click on Turn User Account Control on or off
  4. Click [Continue]
  5. Click in the box to the left of “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” to remove the checkmark from the box and disable the feature.
  6. Click [OK]
  7. Click [Restart Now].

Step Step C. Install SwineBooks Pro

  1. Insert the SwineBooks Pro Installation CD in the computer’s CD drive.
  2. Install SwineBooks Pro
  3. Remove the SwineBooks Pro installation CD.

Step Step D. Start SwineBooks Pro by clicking on the icon on the desktop.
